Cameron Dudley
On December 27, 2008 we were pleased to have Mandel and Anitta Dudley with Westfield JV Basketball Coach, Jamie Shepherd for a special honor for one of our own.
On August 8th, 2008 we lost a member of our Westfield family. Cameron Guy Dudley was a friend, teammate and son to our community and he is gone to heaven way before we were ready to let him go. Time has passed but the pain and thoughts of him are still fresh in our minds.
On December 27, the coaches, players and the entire family at Westfield High School wanted to honor Cameron Dudley with a celebration of his life and by honoring our respect to his mother and father.
A rising junior, Cameron was active in sports and youth social programs including the area Boy Scout Troop 1995, the Northern Virginia Chapter of Jack and Jill America, Inc., and the SYA and CYA sports programs. He was a jokester and loved to laugh and make others happy. His dream was to become an aerospace engineer. His hope was to be a person who could leave a mark in this world.
Coach Jamie Shepherd was Cameron’s JV basketball coach. Coach Shepard knew Cameron well and saw a budding athlete, but more importantly saw a young man who was living life well. It was clear to all that everything Cameron did had a positive impact on the lives of the people around him.
Cameron won’t be running the baseline anymore and he won’t be racing the hallways with his pranks and laughter either. But just for a second when you need a good thought, we ask that you remember Cameron with his smile and the soft touch off the board for two. Goodbyes are long over, but memories will be ours to treasure for a long, long time.
The Westfield basketball community wanted to create a day of tribute for Cameron as recognition for positive impact on a community. Cameron LEFT A MARK in the world.
As a reminder of Cameron's love for the game of basketball and Westfield's love for Cameron, the Westfield basketball program presented Mandel and Anitta Dudley with a basketball signed by his former teammates and coaches.
