Erin Peterson

On April 16th, 32 families changed forever.  Erin Peterson graduated from Westfield High School in 2006 with top honors.  Erin played varsity basketball for the Westfield Bulldogs for 3 years and was appointed a team captain her senior year.  Erin was the kind of player teammates just naturally looked to for guidance and support.

Erin entered Virginia Tech in the fall of 2006 planning to major in International Studies.  She wanted to learn about other cultures, find ways to help the less fortunate around the world, and be a force in bringing people together.  Unfortunately those plans came to a startling end on April 16, 2007.

An article titled "Choose One" in the Virginia Tech Memorial Magazine asked all members of the Hokie Nation as well as all others touched by the tragedy to select one of the 32 victims to remember.  The article requested the readers to study one of the pictures, remember the person's smile and to take note of that individual's passions, accomplishments, dreams, and wishes.  The Bulldog Bash Directors are privileged to remember Erin Peterson by naming the Bulldog Bash Girl's Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award in her honor.

The Bulldog Bash Directors also ask that you please join us by helping keep Erin's dreams alive by making a donation to the Erin Peterson Fund. This fund presented two scholarships in June 2007: the Erin Peterson Leadership Award and the Erin Peterson Commit to Excel Award.

Donations to the Erin Peterson Fund can be made using the
www.erinpetersonfund.org web site and can also be made by sending a check to:

Additionally, there is now an annual golf tournament at the Chantilly National Golf and Country Club in order to raise money for the fund.  Complete details and registration are available at www.erinpetersonfund.org.

On December 21, 2007, Erin Peterson's Number 45 was retired at Westfield High School.
